The Art Of Observation
November 14th
10am-3pm
$85

As birth workers, we value our ability to observe and intuit, and consider observation and intuition actual skills that must be cultivated and continually built upon. We will spend a day immersed in nature observation, walking the edge of the earth, and listening to the sea. By expanding our peripheral vision, not only will we open our skies to carry more birds, but our vision as birth workers will become more astute.  This class will include reflections on animals in birth, the animal pelvis, nature journaling, meditation for birth workers, and tangiable opportunities to bring the animal body and wild lands into the birth room.

Cultivating Birth In
Rape Culture

December 12th
10am-3pm
$85

What is informed consent and how does it affect physiology?  How does the current state of rape culture seep into the birth room?
By understanding the hormones of labor, we will dive into the nuances of the mind body connection and the places where we hold our stories, our trauma, and our opportunity for transformation. We’ll speak to ancestral trauma and what happens to our power when we birth in rape culture. The circle will end with a radical calling in of a new world that values body autonomy, trust and femme centered birth practices.
This class is designed for doulas who want to look at their own relationship to informed consent and the current political and personal landscape.
Disclaimer: This training is not for the faint of heart. Come prepared to look hard at your own practices around inclusivity, race, gender, ableism, white supremacy and the patriarchy.

Birth Talk
January 19th
10am-3pm
$85

How do we come to the agreements with ourselves, our clients and our community about what doulas do and don't say?
We will look at messaging and communication for doulas  navigating home and hospital birth as well as the world of marketing and social media. We'll examine language, advocacy skills, scope of practice and have an opportunity to fine tune our very personal moral compass to guide us on our journey as birth workers. We will use journaling, role plays and examples from social media to build a clearer sense of our vision and application. Specifically, we will look at how we present in interviews, the birth room, during postpartum recovery and on social media and infuse our birth talk with integrity, clarity and power.

our team
Our doula classes are led by local birth workers who honor informed consent, collaboration, and evidence based care.  They are experienced educators and facilitators of deep transformation through biological initiation, as well as being folks who have been committed to social justice professionally and personally for decades.
Our workshops are designed for new and seasoned doulas, or any person who wants to learn more about the intersections of body, spirit, story and nature through the lens of birth. We want to talk about what often doesn't get covered in other doula trainings; loss, death, access, privilege, patriarchy, rape, gender, cultural appropriation/colonization, body autonomy and reproductive justice (to name a few).
We do these trainings within the wild lands (external and internal), and use these spaces as our main our support system so that we can feel held while learning from the original teacher- nature. With our feet on the soil we can begin to use discomfort and vulnerability to heal our own relationship to our inherent complicity and leverage our privilege for good. Our trainings are calling out to folks who want to do the hard work so that they can show up to the sacred space of birth with a deeper sense of self, the forces moving throughout the laboring person's body, and spirits within and without the room that have something to say about birth, life and transformation.
